(Seoul=NSP NEWS AGENCY) = Samsung Electronics is stepping up its global supply of automotive semiconductors. The company has officially started supplying LPDDR4X memory chips, which are certified for use in Qualcomm's premium automotive platform, the 'Snapdragon Digital Chassis Solution.' This marks the beginning of Samsung's full-scale entry into the automotive semiconductor market.
This collaboration with Qualcomm is a first for Samsung in the automotive semiconductor sector, allowing the company to supply LPDDR4X memory to global automakers and automotive parts manufacturers on a long-term basis.
Samsung will provide up to 32GB of LPDDR4X for Qualcomm's Snapdragon Digital Chassis Solution, supporting premium in-vehicle infotainment (IVI) systems. IVI systems not only deliver information related to vehicle operation, such as vehicle status and navigation, but also offer entertainment features for the user.
The LPDDR4X memory meets the automotive semiconductor quality standard AEC-Q100, ensuring reliable performance in extreme environments ranging from -40°C to 105°C.
Following the LPDDR4X, Samsung plans to begin mass production of its next-generation LPDDR5 memory within this year. This product is also slated for supply in Qualcomm's next-generation Snapdragon Digital Chassis.
