(Seoul=NSP NEWS AGENCY) = Samsung Electronics has taken steps to reduce electronic waste and cut customer repair costs.

Samsung Electronics Service announced on the 3rd that it will improve service for Galaxy users by expanding unit repairs for foldable phone displays.

Samsung Electronics Service Vice President and CEO said, “We are steadily strengthening our services to provide a differentiated Galaxy use experience,” and “We will continue to provide services that consider both the environment and our customers.”

Display unit repair is an eco-friendly repair method that disassembles display parts, frames, cases, etc. and replaces only the necessary parts. Display unit repair minimizes the replacement of parts while retaining as many usable parts as possible, which has the effect of reducing the discharge of electronic waste and allows customers to save on repair costs.

Starting on the 3rd, the number of display unit repair service centers for the latest foldable phones, the Galaxy Z Flip and Fold 5, will be expanded from 13 to 32 nationwide.

If the Galaxy Z Flip/Fold5 display are repaired by units, the repair time increases by up to 1 hour due to the additional work required, such as disassembling the parts attached to the display, and attaching and curing the replaced parts, but the repair cost can be saved by up to 36%.
