(서울=NSP통신) eunyoung Huh Journal = It’s been reported that DL E&C ranked the top in the number of fatal accidents in the third quarter this year. The company, which especially comes in third place in the Construction Ability Evaluation, has seen four consecutive quarters of fatal accidents.

On October 26th, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT) released a report that the total number of fatal accidents during the third quarter in 2022 was 61. The death toll of top 100 construction companies totaled 18 after 6 (or 50%) more construction workers have died than the same period last year.

The number of companies with fatal accidents among the top 100 construction companies was 14. DL E&C with the largest number was followed by Daewoo E&C, Kyeryong Construction & Industrial and Hoban Construction where an aggregate of eight people - two people each - has died.

Another 10 people were reported found dead in construction sites of 10 other companies including Hyundai Engineering Co. - one from each company.

The MOLIT said it will conduct a special investigation by December on the large construction companies and the relevant subcontractors with fatal accidents occurred during the third quarter.

Accordingly, more inspectors will be assigned to the construction companies with high frequency of accidents including DL E&C to put them under a high level of scrutiny.
