(Seoul=NSP News Agency) danbi kim Journalist = SK Innovation and Ford will open an event to announce battery production sites in Tennessee and Kentucky, where the joint production plant will be built, on the 28th, local time, and will also release their large-scale investment plans.

Ford and SK Innovation will invest a total of $11.4 billion (about 13.02 trillion won) in the two states to build a battery plant and an electric-vehicle assembly plant.

This is an announcement for the largest investment in Ford's 118-year history and the largest scale on the battery investment in the United States so far.

The Blue Oval SK battery plant will be built at the largest scale in the US. The Tennessee plant will be built along with Ford's electric vehicle manufacturing plant on an site of 15 million ㎡.

The production capacity is 43 gigawatt hours (GWh) and the Kentucky plant will be built at 86 gigawatt hours (43 GWh 2 units) on a site of 6 million ㎡.

Accordingly, the total production capacity of Blue Oval SK reaches 129 gigawatt hours and that is a level that can produce 2.15 million electric vehicles with 60 kilowatt (KW) batteries every year.

SK Innovation is expected to exceed its goal of securing 200 gigawatt hour production capacity worldwide by 2025.
