(Seoul=NSP News Agency) soon ki Lee Journalist = Seoul Semiconductor announced that the New Jersey District Court of the United States ruled the permanent ban on sale of 13 automotive lighting brands sold through the auto parts distribution network in recognition of violating 12 patents of its own.

The ban on sales related to WICOP technology is the second ruling following the ban on sales of Philips TVs in October 2019.

The WICOP technology is a patented technology of Seoul Semiconductor, which is compactly designed for easy construction of small and thin lenses without using wire bonding and packages, and has a long lifespan and excellent thermal conductivity.

WICOP technology has been adopted in 102 car models, accounting for about 10% of the global car market, such as headlamps, daytime running lights, and turn signals. It is widely used in display products such as TVs, smartphones, and tablets. In particular, WICOP was adopted in about 20% of the global TV production of 200 million units in 2020.

“It is very sad that intellectual property, the hope of young people and small and medium-sized enterprises, is being stolen, and patent-infringed products are condoned for use by well-known companies,” said Lee Chung-hoon, founder of Seoul Semiconductor.
