(Seoul=NSP News Agency) soon ki Lee Journalist = Samsung Electronics started the operation of Pyeongtaek Line 2, the world’s largest semiconductor factory.

This Line will produce the industry’s first advanced 3rd generation 10-nano class(1z) LPDDR5 mobile DRAM applied with EUV(Extreme Ultraviolet) process.

Samsung Electronics’ Pyeongtaek Line 2 is the world’s largest semiconductor production line with a total floor area of 128,900㎡(the size of 16 soccer fields). This Pyeongtaek Line 2 plans to invest 180 trillion won and employ 40,000 people, which was announced in August 2018.

Accordingly, large-scale investments of more than 30 trillion won will be executed in Pyeongtaek Line 2 following Pyeongtaek Line 1.

The 16Gb LPDDR5 mobile DRAM, which was shipped from Pyeongtaek Line 2 this time, is the first memory mass-produced product to apply EUV process and is the industry’s first 3rd generation 10-nano(1z) LPDDR5 product that realizes the maximum capacity and highest speed ever.
