(Seoul=NSP NEWS) = HD Hyundai has entered into a shipbuilding cooperation with Huntington Ingalls Industries, the largest defense industry shipbuilder in the United States, to accelerate its entry into the U.S. market.

On the 7th, local time, HD Hyundai signed a ‘Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for cooperation in improving ship productivity and advanced shipbuilding technology’ with Huntington Ingalls Industries.

The two companies agreed to maximize the production efficiency of shipbuilding by combining their respective expertise and capabilities in shipbuilding. They will also share know-how and capabilities to improve shipbuilding costs and delivery times.

Accordingly, the two companies will jointly promote training production personnel and participation in the equipment supply chain as well as process automation, robots, and artificial intelligence(AI) introduction for building a digital shipyard. They also agreed to review cooperation for future joint investments.

In particular, this agreement is expected to be an important milestone in strengthening the partnership and trust in the shipbuilding industries of the two countries as it is an example of cooperation between two leading Korean and American shipbuilding companies with the capability to build the highest specification Aegis ships in existence.
