(Seoul=NSP NEWS AGENCY) = SK Group Chairman Choi Tae-won met with a delegation of U.S. senators to discuss ways to cooperate economically between the two countries by expanding businesses such as semiconductors, energy, and AI.

SK Group said on Thursday that Chairman Choi met with seven U.S. senators, including Bill Hegarty, at the Seorin Office Building in Jongno-gu, Seoul, to discuss ways to promote bilateral economic cooperation, including asking for bipartisan support for Korean companies, including SK.

At this event, Chairman Choi emphasized, “SK Group is building a semiconductor ecosystem in both Korea and the United States,” and “Through this, we will also be able to contribute to strengthening the AI ​​leadership of both countries.”

He added, “SK’s energy business is also growing on a global scale, and the energy business, including batteries, is very important not only for the economy but also for security.”

U.S. senators also expressed their hope that cooperation between the two countries would continue in various areas.

“The two countries have a strong relationship of trust in all areas, including the U.S.-South Korea alliance,” the U.S. lawmakers said, adding that South Korean companies, including SK, play an increasingly important role in the development of both countries.

The senators who visited Korea this time are from both the Republican and Democratic parties. The republicans are Bill Hagerty(Tennessee), John Thune(South Dakota), Dan Sullivan(Alaska), Kate Britt(Alabama), and Eric Schmidt(Missouri). Democrats Chris Coons (D-Delaware) and Gary Peters(Michigan) visited South Korea.
