(Seoul=NSP NEWS AGENCY) = SK Telecom has introduced the A Dot call service, an AI-based real-time interpretation service, enabling users to receive translation services during phone calls.
With A Dot Call, the users can press the translation call icon at the bottom of the dialer when making a call. They can then choose their desired language among Korean, English, Japanese, and Chinese to receive interpretation services.
While there were previous options for translation through separate translation apps or video call tools, having real-time interpretation during phone calls is the first in South Korea.
When SK Telecom A Dot AI phone users make a call and choose the desired language for interpretation, an immediate voice guide is provided to the recipient, saying,"Please wait. The conversation will be transmitted to the translation engine for interpretation."The notification content can also be presented in the selected language.
For instance, if a South Korean user, who is not fluent in English, wants to make a hotel reservation and uses the translation call supporting English, the user can speak in Korean, and the AI will instantly interpret it into English for the hotel reservation agent. Similarly, if the reservation agent responds in English, the AI will interpret it into Korean for the user.
