Gov’t, Samsung to support robot manufacturing development

END7, Read 0(Seoul=NSP News Agency) Jiye Kim Journalist = South Korea’s Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, takes an initiative step in concert with Samsung Electronics, to develop the next generation of manufacturing robots. The new scheme is the part of Manufacturing Industry Innovation 3.0, the government project to foster the nation’s manufacturing sector.
The ministry is to invest 16.75 million won for the following three years, to develop key components of robots. The investment is expected to attribute the domestic robot research and development, moreover, drive down overall prices of industry machines.
Samsung will contribute to the plan by providing product specification, verifying quality, offering consulting and suggesting guidance to medium-sized robot enterprises. Putting emphasis on developing price-competitive core components such as precision speed reducers, motors, controllers and sensor encoders, the development plan aims at deploying small manufacturing robots which require a high degree of precision, on a commercial scale.
