(Seoul=NSP NEWS AGENCY) = The amount of social value(SV) created by SK Group last year decreased compared to the previous year. This is because the indirect contribution to the economy has declined due to the worsening business conditions of major businesses such as semiconductors.

SK Group announced on the 22nd that it created social value of approximately KRW 16.8 trillion last year. This is a 15% decrease compared to the previous year.

This is because the economic intervention contribution performance in the social value measurement field decreased by about 17% compared to the previous year as the dividends and tax payments of affiliated companies decreased due to the deterioration of the business conditions of the main business due to the global economic recession. It is analyzed that the operating profit of SK Hynix and SK Innovation decreased due to the deterioration of the semiconductor and oil business conditions, which affected the decline in the group’s overall economic indirect contribution.

An SK official said, “Indirect economic contribution performance is an area that is difficult to manage because there are many external environmental variables,” and added, “We will strive to continuously improve by strengthening the original performance of the business.”

By sector, indirect economic contribution is KRW 16.6 trillion, environmental performance is KRW 2.7 trillion, and social performance is KRW 2.9 trillion.
