(Seoul=NSP NEWS AGENCY) = Samsung Electronics has started mass production of UFS 3.1 memory solutions for In-Vehicle Infotainment(IVI).
UFS 3.1(Universal Flash Storage 3.1) is a next-generation high-speed flash memory that uses the UFS interface, the internal memory standard of JEDEC, the international semiconductor standardization organization.
This product has improved power consumption by about 33% compared to the previous generation products based on the 256GB lineup. It is expected to be an optimal solution for electric vehicles and self-driving vehicles as it can increase the efficiency of vehicle battery power operation with improved power consumption.
This product is an optimized solution for IVI system, and is expected to meet the various needs of customers by supplying not only 128GB and 256GB, but also 512GB products scheduled to be produced in the fourth quarter of this year. Based on a 256GB product, it provides a continuous read speed of 2,000MB/s and a continuous write speed of 700MB/s.
In addition, this product satisfies AEC-Q100 Grade 2, the quality standard for automotive semiconductors. It guarantees stable performance in a wide temperature range from -40℃ to 105℃.
Through mass production of this product, Samsung Electronics plans to expand the applications of its electric storage product line and actively target the automotive semiconductor market with the UFS 3.1 product for advanced driver assistance system(hereinafter referred to as ADAS, Advanced Driver Assistance System) released in 2022.
