(Seoul=NSP NEWS AGENCY) = LG Electronics recorded consolidated sales of KRW 19.9988 trillion and operating profit of KRW 892.7 billion in the second quarter. As of the second quarter of all time, sales were the largest and operating profit was the second.

In terms of business structure, sales reached an all-time high by expanding the portion of business-to-business(B2B) transactions such as the electronics business. Operating profit also increased significantly(12.7%) compared to the same period last year thanks to the accelerated qualitative growth of the business.

In particular, considering that the preliminary performance in the second quarter includes unexpected costs related to a virtuous cycle of human structure(such as voluntary retirement), operating profit based on business performance exceeds market expectations.

Looking at the first-half performance, which combines sales and operating profit in the previous quarter, the company’s sales and operating profit were the second highest and third highest in the first half of its history.

LG Electronics’ sales in the first half of this year exceeded 40 trillion won for two consecutive years, and its operating profit exceeded 2 trillion won for three consecutive years.

In the household appliances business, the world’s best manufacturing competitiveness contributed greatly to solid performance. The growth of competitive products in the B2B air conditioning business continued. System air conditioners recorded more than double-digit sales growth compared to the same period last year.

As for the TV business, the webOS content and service business continued to grow significantly despite the continued slump in global demand. The business solution business is also accelerating the expansion of customer experience to various spaces, such as introducing the industry’s first hotel TV equipped with Apple Airplay.
