(Seoul=NSP News Agency) hYUNJIN KIM Journalist = Samsung Card issued environment, social, and governance (ESG) bonds worth 100 billion won as a sustainability bond.
The ESG bond was a total of 100 billion won, including ▲ 20 billion won worth of five-year bond ▲ 30 billion seven-year bond, and ▲ 50 billion seven-year-and-three-month bonds.
The largest card company in Korea issued 100 billion won worth of ESG bonds last December 2020 and was confirmed by an ESG evaluator, Deloitte Anjin, to issue the bond.
Before this issuance, the company issued 0.3 billion dollars (350.31 billion won) worth of foreign currency asset-backed securities for ESG with certification from global ESG evaluator, Sustainalytics in March 2021.
The card issuer explained to their ESG bond investors the fund plans, containing financial services toward eco-friendly vehicles and financial support for its small- and medium-sized card affiliates.
