(Seoul=NSP News Agency) Hanah Choi Journalist = CJ Jeiljedang aims at 100 billion won for sale of Spam that is more than 20% over last Chuseok season during that of this year.
In effect, CJ Jeiljedang reached 67.7 billion won in sales in 2014 and 82 billion won in 2015 with Spam gift set for Chuseok season.
Last year, They had to produce extra supply because the release rate of spams exceeded 100% even before Chuseok holidays started. This upbeat sales let them anticipate growth of sales this year too.
For this reason, CJ Jeiljedang greatly increased production and types of spam gift set for this Chuseok that in totall, 51 types of set will be produced into 2.87 million packages, which are increased 12 types and 20% in production on last Chuseok.
CJ Jeiljedang is planning to take full advantage of Jeon, So-Mi, a member of korean girl group singer I.O.I, who was chosen as a ‘Spam and salmon set’ model recently.
Choi, Kwng-jin(brand manager of Spam marketing team, CJ) said,"As the tendency of looking for practical gift set increased, processed food gift set is getting the limelight, of which the strongest point is reasonable price and practicality.” And he continued, “Spam gift set is projected to gain huge popularity for its reasonable price in addition to its being recognized as premium.”
