(Seoul=NSP News Agency) jonghyuk Kim Journalist = SK Innovation (representative Cheolgil Jeong) builds 2 more CCS (Ceramic Coated Separator) production facilities which are better than the universal lithium-ion separator, in stability and performance.

The construction will be started the end of this month in the factory in Jeungpyeong Chungcheongbukdo, finished early next year.

After this extension, SK Innovation has 4 coated separator production facilities, total output will be 9 million ㎡ (one-side coat) a month. They plans that coated separator made in new facilities will be used for electric car battery.

“While keeping high energy density of recent electric car battery in order to extension driving distance on a charge, fire and explosion risk is also getting higher.” said an officer of SK Innovation. He added “In consideration increasing require high efficiency battery and strengthen regulation on battery stability in each country, we invested in coated separator production facilities preemptively.”

When construction completed on early 2018, total separator output of SK Innovation will be 330 million ㎡/year. This amount reaches that producing medium -large size battery for 1 million pure electric car.
